would a GTX560Ti be able to run most games maxed out @ 1200p?

got a new Monitor and I'm loving it already

but my old GTX260 is struggling and slowly dying
this old veteran is going to be replaced with the GTX560 Hawk soon as it out.
but i was thinking is 1GB enough for 1200x1920? i have always played at 1080x1920 and 1GB was enough. but will 1GB be limiting me? would i be better off with a GTX570 for the extra memory?

Cheers

Ollie

Just an FYI, monitor resolutions are stated the other way round. It's 1920x1080 and 1920x1200.

Your post and sig rig have them wrong way round. Unless your monitors are in portrait mode.

the Hawk version of the GTX460 could be overclock stupidly!
it was better than a overclocked GTX470

the GTX560 Hawk is meant to have a 8+1 power phase. which if true will = epic overclock

were is a good website were i can compare cards and see their benchmarks and stuff

The 560 Ti Hawk is out, several of us have already ordered it, including myself, I actually ordered it 30 minutes ago. 1 person has already received his and is in the process of reviewing it. That same person wrote the first and only review of it on Newegg as well.

yeah, I've seen several instances now, that people have said the TFIII is louder than the TFII. I wonder if that includes using the Silent mode switch? Or is it louder due to the flat fan blades vs the curved fan baldes of the TFII design?

Perhaps you could ask people with 1920x1200 monitors to check memory usage difference when running games at 1200 vs 1080. I'd do it for you but I gotta head in to work. I'm not sure offhand but I suspect the vram usage difference is only going to be like around +2-5% from this switch. Probably not enough to make it worth the extra money on the sole basis of memory capacity.

It def. IS possible to run out of vram at 1920x1200 even with 1280MB, though. I just had it happen for the first time ever the other day, playing Stalker CoP Complete Mod, totally maxed. Had to drop texture resolution by one notch to keep perf from tanking after about 10 mins of playing.

And I've breached 1GB a few times with Crysis and Metro. Oh, and in Singularity ... of course, I was running SLI 64xAA at the time

I read MSI's explanation of the difference between the TFII and TFIII, the TFIII blades have dents or ridges on the back edges that supposedly move 20% more air, so that would translate into more noise, but from what I'm hearing more than that was changed and it is louder. That's also the only negative aspect I'm hearing, so I'm still confident in my purchase, But I will probably always wonder how much quieter the TFII is after I hear the TFIII

There are typically 2 years between new process technology and thus cheaper production. We are now hopefully getting closer to the next generation (9-12 month) so acquiring video card now is more a stop gap solution, IMO. GTX 560 is something many people can write off in that time.
