im not lol. Hey im a novice and I already had a hard drive die on me I dont want my whole pc to be done for. So to over come the 400 FSB I need to OC my ram, because FSB is the max the ram will do, correct?

For 450FSB you will need to run your RAM at 900MHz. For 400FSB you can run your RAM at 800MHz.

I've overclocked my Q9400 (Almost the same as your Q9450, only lesser cache) to 3.6GHz rock stable in my Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3R. Using 800MHz 5-5-5-15 RAM at 900MHz. No problem.

This was my formula for 4Ghz on an Asus Rampage Formula.

http://jack-brennan.com/oddpages/x48-bios.html

Use it as a guide to get an overclock you're happy with. I hope this helps.

You're not going to destroy anything unless you use completely outrageous voltages. The numbers you're at are mild at best. X38 is a good OC platform.

Is your memory DDR2 800 or 1066? That will be the crucial question....

ok I raised my fsb to 400.

I ran intel burn test for 50 runs. I failed at 2 out of 50.
I raised my voltage from stock to 1.21875 and did it again still failed it. I raised my voltage again to 1.22500 and failed as well.

I also ran Prime 95 and failed within 2 mins.

Is Voltage my limiter or ram? shouldn't 400 FSB fine since I got 800 drr ram?

I have multiplier at 8x, voltage set to manual and FSB. Rest is on auto.
