Building A New Rig.Need Some Help Please

EDIT
I have decided to go with sandy bridge instead of X58 thanks to your input. Will make another thread. Disregard this thread lol

So, I have finally decided to build a new rig.Mainly but not all because of the upcoming BF3 release..And I have pimped my old 680i and e6750 as long as I can and its time to put her out to pasture. I havent been keeping up with PC hardware at all in the past few yrs so I have no clue as to what are the best choices right now. I have compiled a list of hardware and I am hoping to get some input from you gurus here on my choices so far. First, I just want to make sure everything will work properly together ( Ram/Mobo etc etc ) before I order it. Any comments or advice will be much appreciated. See list below. Thanks

Mobo - ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s

Ram - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMP12GX3M3A1600C9
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145321

CPU - Intel Core i7-970 Gulftown 3.2GHz 6 x 256KB L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor BX80613I7970
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115066

HDD - Seagate SV35 Series ST31000526SV 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148727

PSU - Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W Continuous@40°C, 80Plus
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182188

2 x VIDEO CARDS ( in Xfire ) - GIGABYTE GV-R697OC-2GD Radeon HD 6970 2GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125371

I have always been an Nvidia "fanboy", but due to horrible experiences with a certain vendor ( EVGAY ), I am wanting to give Radeons a shot this build. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

x58 builds are out dated,
its time for sandy bridge,
so try something new,
get i7 2600k,
its better than i7 970 in gaming & overclocks much better,
hd6970 is a great gpu,
get this build-
cpu- i7 2600k
mobo- asus p8p67 deluxe/asus p67 sabertooth
ram- 2x4gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz
gpu- 2x msi hd6970 lightning crossfire
pc case- cooler master HAF-X/HAF 932/nzxt phantom
psu- corsair ax850/hx850
cooler- corsair H70/noctura nh d14
hdd- 1tb western digital cavair black sata3
optical drive- asus 24x dvd burner
ssd- crucial c300 64gb
Hope u like my suggestion

I was really wanting a 6 core cpu and the 970 looked great compared to the extreme 6 cores price wise. Will the 970 work on those mobos? I always regreted not getting a quad core cpu back when I built my last pc with an e6750 instead of a q6600. So this time I really want to make sure I get as future proof as possible. So I was really wanting a 6 core rig. Please explain more about the X58 vs the other mobos and why the 970 isnt a good choice as this was one of the parts I was most enthused about. Thanks!

Perhaps not but sandybridge 2500k or 2600k is better and newer

And you can look forward to a 5ghz overclock on air!

X58 is being phased out as we speak so if you want to be as future proof as possible i would not buy an x58 setup even though they are great, but newer better things are just around the corner now

i7 970 is not a good choice because it performs worse in gaming than an i7 2600k,
an i7 2600k can easily be pushed to 5ghz where as u need luck to reach 4.5ghz with i7 970,
an OC'd i7 2600k beats an OC'd i7 970,
very few, infact very very few application utilises 6cores,most of the application utilises 4cores at maximum so i7 2600k would perform better,
overall i7 2600k is a better cpu, trust u will fall in love with it after see its performence,

i5 2500k or i7 2600k both overclock the same
asus p8p67 pro or any other high end p67 mobo
samsung spinpoint f3 1tb drive. And if you have the money a ssd drive for operating system
gskill ripjaws x ram 4-8gb 1600mhz
nvidia gtx 580 or ati 6970, personal preference again
nzxt phantom case
650w-750w psu
and a good air cooler for the cpu, silver arrow or noctua nh-d14 or what i have in my sig rig

if your mainly using the rig for gaming get the 2500k cpu and save the extra $100 towards a better graphics card the 2600k is more beneficial towards video editing and heavy multitasking but perform the same while gaming. They are both monster cpu's and eat everything you can pretty much throw at them!
