If both PCI-E connectors aren't connected, then the card won't have enough power.

Which power supply do you have? I mean, what's the brand and model number?

Yes. However, I wouldn't overclock this system at all with that PSU. It's not that it doesn't have enough power, but it's about its ability to deliver clean and stable power.

I saw which PSU you bought in the other thread you have, and I personally wouldn't trust it for any overclocking (actually, I wouldn't trust it any farther than I could throw it, but that's not the point right now).

Anyway, yes: use the PSU's PCI-E connectors. The only time you need to use those adapters is when you don't have enough PCI-E connectors on the PSU.

Regarding the red cable in the case: I don't know, however I was able to figure out a similar question for myself by using the information in both the manual for my case and the manual for my motherboard.
