2 hard drives in laptop...questions

Thread Starter
Ok, i have an HP dv6-1259dx (currently in sig)

I recently upgraded the stock hard drive to a WD scorpio black 500gb drive, and am considering the possibility of adding an SSD to the laptop for speed.

this is by no means a fast laptop, but if i could get it to feel fast, that would be enough and would make it last me several more years. and to do that, i believe an SSD would be the way to go.

so here is what i plan to do. I would like to replace the DVD drive with an SSD. the DVD drive runs off of SATA, so hopefully i could just plug the SSD in where the drive normally would.

doing this would lose the use of a dvd drive, which i don't want. however this laptop has an eSATA port, which i hope i could use for the DVD drive.

so this is the way i see it being layed out:
Attachment 206952

what i would like to know, is there a drive bay that will fit into a dvd drive, allow me to attach the SSD easily? also, will what i am trying to do work?

yes, such devices do exist, you just have to know where to look

also, will what i am trying to do work? maybe maybe not. I would suggest that the HDD goes into the optical bay, and the SSD goes internal. Im saying that because im not sure if the computer would be able to boot off a device other than a optical drive in the optical bay
