cant boot into hdd

i hooked in a second hard drive in my friends computer and on the windows load up screen it stops and says error loading o.s, any ideas why?

Most likely the computer is trying to boot off of the new HDD which, I assume, has no OS on it.

in the BIOS, set the boot device to be the old HDD. You may also have to rearange the order of the HDDs in the Boot section of the BIOS.
