if crysis 2 isnt a port, then why did the demo come through with xbox related information?

If they were developed independently, then how would the xbox information get on the pc version?

it's not developed independently for all platforms, it's more like one master control that changes all settings to roughly the same settings across platforms. Again, there is no specific attention to one platform when using this approach.

It could be literally identical to the UI and assets of the 360 and that doesn't make it a console port. A port would be if the game was coded to run on the 360 and then was recoded at a later time to run on the PC. CryEngine3 is a multiplatform engine in which you create the content once and it runs on all 3 platforms, which means there is no porting involved.

The game may have been made with console gamers in mind but that has nothing to do with porting.

actually it is this.

Develop the game to run on the weakest system, and then it codes it to each system.

Its like saying that the original crysis 1 and warhead could be put in cryengine 3 and hitting the buttons and it would spit out versions for the other 2 systems. WRONG. The game was never designed to be played on that limited of a system.

The game was designed with console gamers in mind, thats why we have no flying enemies like the original. Console gamers would have gotten raped by the flyers in that. The levels were also designed around console limitations.

Its a port. plain and simple.

Lets suppose that their workstation is the primary build, it has everything they need on it, then they hit a button and it is ported from the workstation to the pc,xbox,ps3. PORT. We know for a fact that the PC was not the lead platform.

Of course console-to-PC ports don't have to suck. But when it comes down to the bottom-line being profit margins, I honestly don't see why a company would spend an inordinate amount of time tweaking code for release on a PC that would equate to building an almost entirely different game.
