Yeah what would I know I'm only a PC game developer, and you're a gamer, you must know better.

Maybe you could explain why you would port a program that was made from a multiplatform engine? Where is the logic in that?

The same way that unreal engine based games can be ported from 1 system to another. UE3 is multi platform.

Did you develop cryengine 3 engine? If not, then well you obviously dont know as much as you claim.

There is always a lead platform in game development. Perhaps the lead is the workstation on cryengine 3, which makes all 3 systems ports of the workstation.

Well, I see no reason why Console to PC port could not be great.

Regardless of the fact that I do not know any such console port that would be great. Then again I'm a PC gamer and tend to prefer such games that tend to run on PC. Like .. well .. dwarf fortress. Anyway in theory I can win on the lottery as well.

Mind I'm not taking a swing at Fable 3 with that. Just pointing out that statement "Console ports can be great" is quite valid one. All you need is a great game on console to start with and porting it properly.

What is great game is matter of taste ofc and I do not think that reaching the agreement over all humanity that "this game is great" is quite possible. For me a great game is more than just DirectX 11 or even 3D. Same as I judge books by the content in them instead of just going by the front cover .. or the lack of it.

Ports are not released simultaneously. The ported game is released at a later time. Porting is expensive, why would you port and release simultaneously when you could develop all at once?

Maybe you should go read up on CryEngine 3. It's my job to be knowledge about games and game engines (I've even written one from scratch), for you it's just an afterthought.

Probably not, at the moment I make kids games. My last shipped title was LEGO Universe.
Ports can be handle by another dev studio, like Homefront, A seperate studio handled the PC version, or they can patch in what they left out. DX11 patch? Yup, that just happen.

ive read up on cryengine 3 and everything i need to know about it.

he is the community manager i would guess.

If you have read up on the engine and Crysis 2 you would know they already talked about developing all three games at once with the engine.

Community managers aren't programmers. As I just stated, my last shipped title was LEGO Universe, which means I haven't been working for Crytek.
