[io9]Science proves that staring at a screen all day is bad for you - Page 3

If this was true, I'd be blind and running around with steam coming out of my ears.

I am doing neither.

Wait wait wait a second here.

This makes little sense. In theory your body parts are allocated oxygen via the blood stream based on demand.

Computer screens are very intense for your eyes to process, especially fps games where it literally trains your brain to respond to minimal movement in a given field of view.

If something as intensive as the computer demands that much from your visual abilities then if anything it should improve the health of the blood flow in the eyes. Its like working out, you've gotta demand a lot from your muscles in order to force them to grow.

And plus, a survery pool of 1,500 is pathetic. It is hardly even good science. The only thing such a target pool of 1,500 is good for is inspiring further research. You cannot, CANNOT make such a generalization for minors in general off of such a puny pool.

According to the CIA world survery 27% of the world population is under 15 years old, so lets pretend that the percentage of the world population under the age of 21 is 33%.

That means that there are 2,280,300,000 people in the world under 21 years old.

These Australians are basically claiming that a mere one thousand five hundred people are representative for two billion two hundred and eighty million three hundred thousand people.

Its poor science. They are claiming that every kid they studied represents a total of 1,520,200 other people.

Even if this was true, once organic tech takes over it won't be an issue anymore.

LED backlighting and CRTs haven't actually been tested yet, so how about they do something useful like test those rather than copy a previously done bit of research by simply sticking a bit of material inbetween the light and the eyes?

its as stupid as saying that staring at sun through a magnifying glass is bad for oyur eyes. No *** sherlock we can kinda get that from the fact that it has the same effect on the naked eye too...

Oh and OLEDs won't negatively effect the eye at all unless they use the turn off and on at intervals system of reducing brightness. (seriously thats the stupidest idea ever, why not actually reduce the brightness?)
yeah take that computer naysayers!
Darn,I guess I had better get an LED monitor..
