Memory Madness MKII Competition (Winners announced!) - Page 38

I dunno, 1.55v seems kind of on the higher side for ambient cooling. The other day when I was looking for a saved bios I found one that I had +325mV. Thats probaly the highest that I've run it. I don't think it was due to fear, probably just that I didnt' need it. I haven't really tried pushing high memory clocks or anything. Pi is really not my thing, most likely due to never spending much time with it.

The other day I spent a good 5-6 hours just messing with 32m to find out what my chip can do. I found that it hates VTT when it's cold. On water I was able to run more VTT and clock higher. My 920 doesn't have this problem.

But I do like your commitment and effort thus far.

Thanks, that's reassuring seeing at least some one else not too scared of those volts. Okay, so I still have some room on the vdimm volts. I haven't heard of many, if any at all, bloomfields dieing...so that's why I feel not too worried even on water (360, 240, 120 radiators)

For ambient I think I'm definitely pushing it. I think I've heard of 1.6 when cold, but IDK. Yeah, this is bassplayer's old w3520 so based off what he is saying once I get cold I probably won't even have the chance to get up to that high of VTT.

Pi isn't my thing either, this is really the 2nd time I've ever done multiple runs on it, and first time I've ever put this much effort into it.
So far tonight I got 4.66ish core and 4.46 uncore to pass 32m with ~2220 7-10-7 memory, and that netted me a PB so far of 8m 4s. I have a feeling in some one much more experienced hands they could get a much better score with these same clocks.

What I'm just trying to do is get a good feel for where I'm at now on water, because once I get my first DICE runs going in 2 weeks from now, I'll be short on time and need to move fast...won't have time to start learning 32m and what it likes of this setup, then.

Old because it's dead, or old because you sold it

I think I'm hitting an uncore wall at 4.5, but we'll see what happens if I throw more volts at it...if I feel comfortable

For 32m, would it prefer higher ram speed or tighter timings? I'm still at CL7 pushing ~2220, and I could probably push higher Mhz if I drop to CL8.

Never thought about that. i guess ill give this ram 1.95 to start.

I'm seeing how high my memory can go, which is surprising the hell out of me...I just passed a 32m run with 2220 7-10-7 and 4.4ghz uncore. 2240 gives me an error in 32m, so I'll increase some memory volts (1.8 right now) and see how it goes. If the most you've done is a little over 1.5v cold, then I think I won't pass where I'm at now. Temps are fine, but I'm not looking to pop anything.

IIRC AM3 can handle some decent volts, because it has a ddr2 controller built in and ddr2 is speced at 2.1v usually

Haha yeah. And to the questions earlier, I'll do up to 1.6V VTT cold if it's scaling, but 1.55V is my cold sweet spot. On air, I try not to go above 1.5V...

But you know we do
