You can jump the PSU with a paperclip and it will power on, but whether or not it will be ok to power your board that way, I don't know. I doubt you'd need the extra CPU power though, unless you're using LN2.

Ya, that was just me playing around this morning though cause I just got that CPU. I'll use correct background when I push for scores

On the secondary PSU, you can just jump it, I don't think it has to be started at the same time as the board.

Yeah I jump it like that for puring WC loops. Yeah, I don't think I'll need it, but if I've got it I figure why not, worst it can do is not help (if it's okay to have two different psu's)

Cool, I'll probably try it out Tuesday if I don't get any definitive no's.

I've never done it that way, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

yes-that's why I got discouraged when Beep posted his 21 GB/s....I tried 1 core at 4.5 and NB 3.0 and I got around 11GB/s.So it's gotta be all cores.I figure it has to be some synthetic scoring method, can't see as how the "bandwith" is actually limited with less cores. Also I can get around 16.85GB/s with 3 cores at 4.2,but I can't score much higher even with 200 more MHz on the RAM and NB and CPU at 4.5....still the same score.

The T2RS is finally starting to show me some thrill to. Latency isn't there yet, but bandwidth is coming along.

Don't laugh at my 32M, it's W7. Just wanted to see how high I could get cas 4 to complete @ 2.51v.

Technically this IS 2000 6-6-6-18, but for some reason AMD ASUS boards float HT back and forth...one second it's 1990, next its 2000 back to 1990. 3 out of 4 times its 1990 so I'll say it's that.

My problem could also be CPUNB headroom, I might just be at the edge. At 2 cores, I can do well into 3350 range, 6 I can only do 3100 ish. I figured 4 would be a good compromise between more bandwidth from higher CPUNB/ram from 6 and the huge CPU bottleneck I saw with 2 cores.

These OCZ Blades didn't perform as well as I hoped. The default is voltage is 1.8v, I put 1.925v volts on them and couldn't get the tRC below 31 @ 556mhz. They do much better when the FSB isn't so high. I guess they have more wiggle room then.

Oh BTW sandra works fine for me in XP. I was going to do both WIN7 64 and XP 32 but I couldn't get stable in XP for some reason. Kept getting a bad pool header BSOD in XP 32 bit, but everything was fine in Win7 64 bit.

That's right.

Did some testing with the 140 Sempron and my entry with it unlocked to a 440e shows that more cores do better overall in bandwidth.

Thuban cores will rule that part of it without a doubt in the end. I believe though latency and Super PI could be a different ball game but even then the newer chips and boards will probrably dominate the rankings. I will say my 790 board is doing all it can but it's a 790 chipped board vs 890 chipped boards so I'll probrably be towards the bottom at the end.

I look at this as something I can learn a few things from and have fun too.
