No. CPU/NB in on the CPU.

But I am pretty sure the NB speed you guys are talking about is based off the clock speed on the motherboard chip. Not the cpu part.

No, the cpuNB is on die and is part of the cpu itself.

The NB on the motherboard has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

The Northbridge on the CPU is linked to the Northbridge on the Motherboard I presume.

Increaseing the Northbridge speed which is on the CPU will increase the comunication speed between the Chipset and the CPU, which gives a big boost to overall system performance.

EDIT:
Hmmm Not sure how to put it but... in noob terms... Think as the Northbridge freq to be the CPU's Intergrated Memory Controller.... Not entirely sure I'm correct but yeah smile.gif

I believe with the newer cpus from AMD and Intel the cpuNB is in direct communication with the ram itself. I don't believe the cpuNB even talks with the motherboard NB.

Edit: I believe this was what I was looking for.

If your correct, Than I belieave it's the HT Link that's the direct communication with the Motherboard's component's + the Chipset = GPU as well.

Increaseing the HT to around 2400MHz help's with Crossfire - SLI configuration's I think to give better dual GPU performance confused.gif

EDIT: Seen your above edit BTF, and that's exactly what I was looking for... it's the HT Link that deals with the comunication speed's with the MB's Chipset then smile.gif

CPU/NB = Intergrated Memory Controller (IMC)

Never got it stable above 2960Mhz, but i have a pretty crappy 955.
Voltage doesn't really matter, jumping from 1.4V to 1.50V on the cpunb doesn't help a thing.
