C4 warning with Hitachi 120GB

Thread Starter
I've got a 2.5" 120GB Hitachi that I just pulled from a busted netbook that I'm testing out and I noticed it's got a C4 (Reallocated Event Count) warning via HD Tune Pro.
Description: number of sector replacement operations: 16
Status: ok

What does this one mean? I'm looking to either toss this one in an old Dell that I use for school work (if it's slightly faster than the old one already in it) or I'm going to toss it in a cheap enclosure to ferry media files to and from home, nothing too important.

It works. I just wiped it and ran some HD Tune benches on it (was going to switch it but then found out the laptop I'd put it in is IDE, so this one's just going into an enclosure). Nothing appears to be really wrong with it as far as I can tell.

16 reallocated sectors is nothing to sneeze at. It means the drive is eventually going to fail and take your data with it. RMA the drive if possible.

I doubt I could RMA it; came in a laptop that had a 1 year warranty that has since expired and the laptop has died. Just salvaging.

How long does it have?

Maybe a week, maybe a year. There's no good way to know for sure. Don't use it for anything important.

It was only going to used for the convenience of not removing the external I already have attached to my computer and transferring it. Maybe this thing will last simply because I'll only be taking it out a few times each year; once a week MAX.

Just checked Hitachi's website as well: not valid for RMA.
