Teaming internet connections - Page 2

He might not be, but it varies. He might have a way to saturate it later. Once you have a really fast connection, paying for Usenet access or renting a cheap dedi can be worth it.

OP, first you need to check whether both ports have the same IP. If they do, then you're better off with a router. If not, you might prefer a software solution as teaming with two IPs could give you trouble after logging in on some sites, and you'll want the ability to easily disable it or only use it with certain programs.

Kinda off and on, not constantly. Plus is there a way around getting throttled down? I was wanting to run a game server off of the schools network so I called to find out if it would be OK, the guy told me No, but could not show me where. When I asked more he said I can not get in trouble but the school would throttle my speed to almost nothing?

There's no way around it. If you use non-standard ports they might not notice (but maybe they just check if you're always accepting data on some port).

Another problem you'll run into is that the switch will see the 2 ports as 2 ports, not 1 connection, not with out some switch side config. I highly doubt that a school network admin would make a port group for a student. I work at a school as an admin, and the only port groups we have are for large services, like the wireless AP control appliances.

I am with you there, this school would not help me that way to save my life....
