D14 is about 5C better than a H50, and 1C or dead even with the H70.

h50 isnt worth the price ?

i get 28c idle and load at 68c @ 4.2ghz on my i7 ... sb chips run heaps cooler too you would have those temps on ur 4.8 - 5ghz overclock .

Aircooling ? no thanks .

Yes the h50 is worth it , after a quick lap job and some good thermal paste .

out of the box ? it isnt anything special , but if you mod it a little .. it does wonders .

if you chose the d14 over the h50 , u are making the wrong decision imo .. h50 has alot of potential .. and if done right , u will be suprised .

d14 is much better than the h50. It will do a significantly better job than the 212+

For me the D14 outperformed the H70 by a good margin. Although i wasn't able to mount my H70 in the most beneficial way on my torture rack.

If your not going to lap then .. get which cooler you think is best .. out of the box the h50 and the d14 are pretty much the same performance wise .

h50 has more potential to get you lower temps , if you want to start adding shrouds or lapping ur cpu and the water block . I got mine now on 28c idle - 68c load @ 4.2ghz .. i would love for u to point me to an aircooler than can do such a thing

d14 would probably idle in the 40's , load low 80's .. out of the box .... dunno if theres much u can do to those coolers to drop temps like i did ?

never had hands on experience with the d14 or any aircooling for that matter , wouldnt waste my time .

anyway you can get any cooler you want , if you dont mount it to ur cpu 100% properly your temps will be rubbish regardless of it being a d14 , h50 , rasa kit ..How many threads have you seen ( High temps help ! ) probably because they didnt mount it properly , or just screwed it on bodgy with that crappy thermal pad that comes applied i dont know what people are expecting .. i7's only require a tiny line of thermal compund not a whole pad , i replaced it with as5 and its muccchh better .

Your using sandy bridge , they run much cooler than previous gen i7's .. Im also on 1.42v opposed to your 1.3v ... i would of kept the h70 , more potential ... id make it a beast , but some people dont know how , they just take it out of the box install it half assed and expect miracle temps .

personally id take the h50/70 , i dont want a fat heatsink weighing down my mobo .. the radiator i can squeeze anywhere .. with the d14 u are limited .

That D14 is heavy as hell, I don't think it will be healthy for your board. You can lap that h50 and do this mod.

Try to put the radiator outside, that way it won't affect mosfet temps.

You should go for the D14, but you should also wait a little for the antec kuhler 920 to come out, that is said to have some pretty low temps.
