CPU cooler question to help an ill-informed user.

Is Frostytech to be trusted? The only reason I ask is becuase I see a lot of people here recommending the Venomous X, Megahalem, Silver Arrow, Dark Night, etc etc... but I never see anything on some of the CPU coolers that FrostyTech say are the best? Such as the Spire Thermax Eclipse II, Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme, Thermaltake Frio, and Zalman CNPS9900 MAX. I really like the looks of the CNPS9900 MAX, and the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme, so whats wrong with them that I never see them really mentioned here?

Frostytech never done me wrong. As far as the less-famous coolers...this site has pretty good info.

Plus, to be honest (and not to defame the other members of this fine site) there's a fair bit of bias regading "super-coolers." 90% of the people recommend the same 5 or 6 coolers and nothing else, because they're the only ones anyone talks about.

This is very much true.

Given that I do have a NH-D14, I had my own reasons to buying this cooler. But there is a few that took my attention..

The Scythe Mine II

Review HERE

This isn't the one I had read but what they are saying about this cooler is, if they included another fan this "could" outperform the Thermalright Archon.

Then there is Alpenföhn K2

The Matterhorn

Also the Thermaltake Frio is a contender.

Oh alright that makes sense. So you really you can't go wrong between the NH-C14, Tower 120 Extreme, NH-D14, Thermax Eclipse II, Frio, CNPS9900 Max, Magahalem, Iceage 120 Boss II, TTC-NK85TZ, Vapor 120, Corator DS, BADA, or Silver Arrow, just personal preferance and what suites your build/case the best?

EDIT: Thanks Smash Mouth I'll deffinitly look into those.

Pretty much. It's all about which of the more efficient coolers fit with your other components, physically and décor-wise.

I really like my spire thermax...i think the fact that I can push a 4.2 stable oc on it speaks volumes

Also it is not nearly as bulky or expensive as some of the other top brand coolers

This is what blows me out these days with the young ones.

Once upon a time it was function over form but now I see "I won't get that because it doesn't match my theme".

What about this one, The NOFEN CR-100A. This is totally fanless.

I don't think that would fit in my case with SLI cards? I saw that in an ad though.

And I agree with you about function over aesthetics, but when Frostytech says those coolers all perform within 1c of each other, I think you pick aethetics from there on out..

That is true for the front running coolers, but I have seen people get some of the coolest looking but not so good performance wise coolers for aesthetics and then wonder why they can't overclock that well.

But if you stick to the homework you have done, you will not be disappointed.
