Need two replacement fans for V10 cooler.

post #1 of 11

I have a Cooler Master V10 with two flaky fans; but instead of getting a new cooler, I'd rather just get new fans. I was thinking of getting a gentle typhoon AP-15 or AP-14 for the main fan, and a red led fan as the secondary:

Enermax Apollish

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-120mm-Case-R4-L2R-20CR-GP/dp/B0026ZPFBG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1303534609&sr=8-4"]A cooler master red led fan[/ame]

or

Xigmatek crystal

Any suggestions on the led fan? I was thinking of plugging the gentle typhoon into the cpu motherboard header, and the led fan into a "chassis" motherboard header. Does that seem fine? Thanks!

the gently typhoons are a good choice, Noctua NF-P12 1300 rpm fan would be a good choice also. The Noctuas are a bit more expensive but carry an increadible 6 year warranty

It should be no problem having one fan on the CPU header and the other fan on a chassis fan header.

Thanks for the suggestions. I assume it's not worth $35 shipped for a gentle typhoon AP-15, so maybe I'll get the Noctua NF-P12 for $21 shipped. 6 years sounds like a nice warranty, lol.

I also think I'll spring for that Yate Loon 120mm red led fan.

Thanks!

Since AP15's are pretty much out everywhere I would go here and pick up either the Panaflo or the San Ace's

Hi WompaStompa11,

Unfortunately, none of the above. All the fans you, and others, have listed on this thread are not PWM fans (ie. they all use a 3 pin power connector as appose to a 4 pin power connector). Most CPU fans uses PWM for automatic speed control. The specs for the V10 fan is said to be 800~2400RPM with max 90CFM @ 17dB-A (min).

If on the other hand you wish to forgo the PWM feature and want to control the fan speed manually, require additional hardware, then almost ANY 120mm fans will do, even cheapies.

If you do end up finding the correct replacement fans please post the site. I am also looking for a pair as well.

Thx

3 pin fans work on 4 pin headers.That being said,I would like to point out that there are better coolers available that are much smaller.The V10 never actually performed that well,is overpriced and it is too big.I would suggest getting a whole new cooler.

I actually contacted cooler master and asked where I could get V10 replacement fans, and they said they didn't sell them. I have already bought:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YSONMO"]Noctua NF-P12[/ame]

and

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026ZPFBG"]Cooler Master 120mm Red LED[/ame]

If you plug a 3 pin fan into the motherboard header, does it run at 100% speed at all times?

eeek, I would stongly recomend looking to a diff cooler, the V10's performance is horride in review's I have seen.

If you are set on just swapping out the fans. What kind of fan are you looking for? high pressure/CFM, quiet cooling ability?

I think one of the best fans(if your not into quiet computing) is a San Ace 1011, rediculas static pressure and CFM!

If noise is a problem for you, GT1850RPM maby just up the next level:)
