You need to upgrade to something faster and send me those 580s, I will give them a great home.

I don't think water will help me beat your overclocked cards.

What about at stock? Toss me a bone here man, I can't compete

Run it again at stock!

I have bought 2x 580 in SLI and never looked back. They are rock solid and apart DA2 which has coding/drivers issue, I get very high FPS everywhere.

OP.

You should read this. 580 SLI takes a knee here, and is badly beaten by another set-up for the same price.

I'll ignore any review site that uses a i7-920 @ 3.6 GHz with $1000 worth of gpus.

3 gram...lol. I'd love to see this supercharger.

Btw OP: remember the Lightning has 12 power phases allowing for substantial overclocks. (With MSI stating the vrm's on the Lightning can easily route 1kw of power) The 590s have been (iirc) voltage capped and can't be pushed nearly as hard.

I still don't see 2way SLI 580 Lightnings toppling 4way SLI 590s...if you do go the 590 route I would go watercooling.

Best of luck either way...keep us posted!

16 my friend 16. I even posted a link to MSIs own page to the card on this thread

That's 4 phases short. That's almost how much some gpus have altogether!

That should really be determined by how well the 590's scale

LOL. Yeah. But those 580 SLI were beaten soundly and badly, no matter the speed of the CPU. Probably that with an i7 2600K at 5.1, the beating would have been worst...

I can't beleive how bad the 1000$ 580 SLI set-up is compared to AMD 1000$ set-up. 2 cards against 2 cards. Ouch.

Use a 120hz screen. Difference is very noticeable. I notice the difference a lot when I go back to 60hz.

The speed of the CPU matters a great deal when it comes to SLI and CFX.
Multi-Card setups requires a great deal from the CPU, and every mhz counts.

A 920 with very low OC means really bad scaling, on both sides.

To test SLI or CFX (either 2 or 3 cards), you need a much stronger CPU with a much higher overclock in order not to start the GPUs. In nvidia its more required than amd.
