gtx 590 sli (guru) (crysis WA) (look at 2560 x 1600):

6970 crossfire (and theres a trifire from the same reviewers):
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...ty-vs-sli.html
I agree totally the lightning will allow 950+ overclock and the resulting coolfactor far exceeds these other solutions.

sorry about the stupid response however i have lots of gpus also and if you know about the scaling and 120hz then you know about the stutter and everything else including overclocking so these are just opinions anyhow i stick by it 4 gpu's better than 3 any day even with the weak power and cooling

i have not read everything here. but you must also take into consideration DOES YOU MOBO SUPPORT IT??

and do not just say yes.... not all board support it. check on the manufacturers web site and even log a ticket to find out.......

then decide on a card you want and contact the manufacturer on what drivers they recomend... i have seen asus in quad sli... and it is beautiful... but i would also say get a good monitor

Yes. My motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth P67) was in the Quad-SLI 590 approved list.

EDIT: and I have an AW2310 120hz monitor

meh, really do not like the Asus Sabertooth. but thats just my personal opinion.

Your choice. Me I'd stick with AMD here, and I'm a total NVIDIA fan boy for life.

I still say go the lightning 6970 route. Look at those crossfire fps! Overclock those suckers with a full cover block and 2 x gtx 360s from HWlabs with some AP15s!!!!!! take'em to 1ghz + easy peasy.

I would choose SLI GTX580's, Quad SLI and especially dual GPU cards are terrible at scaling/driver issues/incompatibility issues with games/micro stuttering/etc... Dual GPU cards are a lot better than they were a few years back but they still don't have the same consistency that a single GPU card gives (yes I know some people run dual GPU cards/quad SLI with no problem, but there are still too many disadvantages in my opinion).
