First time WC planning to buy... NEED HELP PLZ!

Hey guys, I am planning on perhaps getting a WC loop but I don't want to go with a closed loop or pre-built system. I'd rather get each and every component exactly as I need it. What I would like to accomplish is to be able to OC my Core i7-930 well past 4.2 GHz (as far as I can "Safely" go lol) and also to cool 2 eVGA GTX 480 SC (perhaps even a third equivalent card and they will be OC'd as far past 900 MHz as I can "safely" go. Now I'm at 880 MHz with the stock cooler and good with temps... for now). I have a HAF X and just planned on putting a 360 RAD up on top buy I can also put another rad out the back and maybe even a third somewhere else inside the case. I have a budget of between $300-$500 but the less I spend the less the wife hates me you know. I just don't know anything about WC and so I am coming to you experts to find out. Oh and I'd like to cool my Asus P6X58D Premium also so that I can take the OC as high as possible. I don't care if I have to do 2 separate small loops to isolate the CPU from the GPU's or whatever. Shoot me a ton of Ideas please so I have many to choose from and also please be thorough as I literally know NOTHING about water cooling.... that's the thing with the water and tubes and stuff inside cool kids computers right? If you guys could make me a detailed list and also explain as much about everything that I could possibly need to know then that would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too proud to ask for help when I need it and I hope that I came to the right place but if not please direct me there lol. Thanks in advance guys. (By the way, my budget isn't set in stone. I am getting about $2500 to work with on upgrading my computer but out of that I need to buy my wife a decent laptop. So I am buying my second GTX 480 SC(want), a Corsair AX 1200 PSU (Need), 23" Samsung PX2370 (Need), Samsung Bluray drive (want), 3TB WD HDD (Need), Epic sound card (Need but haven't picked one out quite yet), and a few fans and some sort of cooling solution that is better than my Cooler Master V10 Hybrid (which isn't that hard to beat lol) but I need the cooling and fans for my case. Or do you guys think that I am just better off getting a H70 and a couple of Gentle typhoons to hold me off until I upgrade to LGA 2011 a few months after it comes out? Please enlighten me and sorry for being all over the place in the post. It's late and I am tired. Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.

Your paragraph is really hard to read lol sorry

So you want:
1) Custom watercooling kit
2) Upgrade computer parts such as
  • PSU
  • Graphics
  • Monitor
  • Hdrive
  • Audio Card
  • Wife's Laptop
3) Upgrade to LGA2011
4) All for $2500AUD

Is that correct?

If you're upgrading to LGA2011 (which comes out Q4 2011 I believe) I say hold off on the cooling solutions and live with the V10 for now. Just cooling a CPU goes into the $200+ mark. Then there's your motherboard and GPU which will double your cost already.

And putting together your water cooling system is the same as putting together a new system. . . do you research and make sure things are compatible with each other. Really easy

The LGA 2011 upgrade is separate from the rest of my budget. I will be putting ALL of the money I make from my work from home computer business (on average between $1000-$5000 per month) into savings to pay for my CPU/mobo/ram upgrade probably in Q1-Q2 next year to give it time to mature.

Well what if I wanted to to a CPU only cooling solution. Would a 360 rad and a 240 raf cool much better than a 360 rad alone or is there a sort of wall that keeps you from cooling more ( I know you can't go sub ambient without help from a TEC or
some other method). I like to have a 360 raf for the top of my case (with 3 X 120mm fans and shroud) and to hang a 240 raf out the back (with the same fan/shroud setup).

My biggest problems are figuring out what's possible, what is the best top of the line ( a bit redundant I know) components, which components I need, a good flow path, how to configure everything, and the little nuances (or tips and tricks) about water cooling. After all of that, I'm pretty much set. Thanks for your input.

Okay for 2 GPUs and a CPU a 300-500 dollar budget is going to be really tight imo. I spent 400 for my CPU only, and GPU blocks cost close to $100 a piece. You will probably want at least a 360 and then another 240 rad to cool all of that. You could probably get away with 480 but i would add another 120 to that just to be safe.

^this

Make sure to use the same metals throughout your loop to avoid corrosion. Full copper or nickel if you can.

5K monthly = 60K yearly, not bad for a home business!
