1.45v to 1.5v should get that stable at 2900, my 955 does 2900 at 1.5v (but not on a 4ghz OC I need to drop CPU OC to around 3.8 to get CPUNB @ 2900) OR drop the CPUNB down to 2600 to get stable CPU OC at 4ghz

My mobo Im sure does a 965 mimic in the auto CPU UP thing ib bios Im syre that puts the CPUNB to 2900, hang on I will change bios and see. But there again those auto OC features usually put more voltage than is needed. (BRB)

Its the 3.6 auto OC that puts my CPUNB to 1.5v @2925

I'd rather go around 2800 mhz for much lower voltage, as over 2800 is a little too much for 3800mhz CPU.

Think I covered it in my posts......Ive given OP some ideas like where my 955 is happy, not his 965 granted, but he couldnt get cpunb stable at 2260...my 955 will do cpunb @ 2900 at 3.6 or 3.8 stable no probs 2925 is its max stable though

I just put multi up to 19x, and left it at stock volts (1.4v in bios, 1.392 in cpu-z) and left my NB at 2600mhz at 1.25v, couldn't be more stable.
