CPU IHS scratched, is this normal?

Thread Starter
My P8P67 Deluxe has this this socket cover, which is presumably from Foxconn.
Now, as you can see it has two small concave spots which scratched the sides of my i5 2500k's IHS like here.

Did I void my CPUs warranty? There's absolutely no way to secure the lever without scratching anything... It was my first time installing CPU on LGA1155 but I've installed/reseated CPUs from various sockets hundreds of times and I've never had such problems.

Everything works fine, I didn't notice anything abnormal about the bottom of CPU and pins, only weird thing is 2 of my cores (#0 and #2) running 5C hotter than the other 2, but that's normal from my experience.

Is there anything I can do about this socket cover if I ever got a new CPU? Could I like, buy Lotes bracket and replace current one with it?

That's what the IHS was made for.
Taking the damage rather than the chip or board taking the damage.
shielding the core and acting as a last chance cooling if the cooler isn't applied correctly.

Yeah... The IHS is also hindering the CPU from getting the greatest temps.. I remember when I had 754 and 939 Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 CPU's. I used razor blades to remove the IHS. Resulted in huge temp drops!

However, I think Intel use solder between the Core and IHS. So it's suicide trying to remove it.

Yeah, I'm quite sure the micronized diamonds scratched it. Needless to say, I'm probably going to lap it now lol
