570 is better and the gainward 570 doesn't have vrm problems.

Please carry on.

Go go thread reading! We're talking about the non-reference Gainward Phantom 570, which, when overclocked, will go past any 6970 at 1080p/1200p and doesn't even come close to having vrm problems.

i looked up that card, it is awesome! how does it compare to the asus? probably much better, i wish it was available in America
post #14 of 20
No, it's more or less equal to the DCII, the DCII actually does better with low airflow cases iirc. And yeah, if you want it in America, you're paying ~$100 more for it.

you ARE talking about the gainward PHANTOM one , so your opinion is I should get that one instead of the GS one?

Phantom is a great card. Im running 950/2250 rock solid at 1.110v. Only had it for a week or so, i havent found max on the core yet. Im going slowly higher when i know its 100% stable without artifacts etc.

A 570 should be compared to a 6970 and not 6950.

I actually bought a 6950 2GB, it didnt unlock properly and i returned it and bought a Gainward Phantom. Im SO glad i did that. This card beats the 6950 for sure, i ran some benchmarks and games before i returned it (with max OC, not flashd) and the 570 is faster especially in BFBC2 witch i play alot..

...and both noise and temps is lower when gaming

Is it possible to get 580 stock performance with the gtx570 phantom OC?
If so how much OC do I need to do and how much is the highest stable OC for the phantom without additional cooling and stuff
thanks

Yes, any 570 with ~850 core and ~2000 memory will match a stock 580 when not vram limited.

As for what's a stable overclock, we can't tell you that. Each individual card has a different overclock potential.

They are both great cards, it just comes down to how many monitors you want to run. For me im not into 3 or 6 monitor gaming, I like one big screen thats why i use a samsung 37" LED.
