Rift last me till Tera?

Thread Starter
I been itching for a MMO lately and wonder if Rift is any good or worth it till Tera Online comes out September? I only PvE and can't really do PvP in that type of game. Not interested in any MMOs out right now nor future except Old Republic and Tera.

Buy?
Wait?

Thanks.

You ever play WoW? It is the exact clone of WoW. Even has the same keybindings from what I hear.

If you enjoy the same old grindy MMORPG filled with quests like Kill x Rats, or Gather x things, or Escort x person.. then go for it.

I thought about playing it to hold me over until GW2, but it wouldn't be worth the sub fee + $50 for the game or w/e it costs.

I've been playing rift since it's come out and while it's fairly polished (compared to other games just released) it's not that exciting. The problem is that it's all just the same level and gear grind as it was in wow. So I'm quitting

I will say that the soul (class) system is amazing, and way better than what they have in wow. However, it's not really something that keeps me excited about the game.

I'd find something else IMO. Also: i've noticed my server's population drop off considerable since the game started.

if you enjoy the traditional style of mmos lately, WoW, EQ, Warhammer, etc. Then you cant go wrong.

Everything Rift tries to do. It does well. It has the polish of a game that has been going for years.

People will fault rift for various reasons, but that are simply problems people have with the genre itself, myself included in that bunch.

So if you can answer that top line with a yes, then it is quite possibly the best on the market for you.

ignore backfat, the guy is a tool apparently by that post.

I feel bad for anyone who thinks WoW or Rift is a grindy game..should try an Asian MMO tongue.gif

Rift isn't a bad time killer..it took a lot of good elements from different MMOs and put them all in one place. Game was insanely easy to pick up if you are used to WoW since the UI and keybindings are all the same.

For my money, I would go with WoW instead because it's more polished but Rift is a good break from the norm.

Yes, this is it exactly. If you're still really interested in a wow-style fantasy MMO then Rift is worth checking out. If you were getting bored with wow etc, then just wait...

Stopped reading after this, because it's just not worth reading anymore. I've played both games and after playing WoW for way to long and playing RIFT for a bit, RIFT is not an exact clone. There are a good amount of similarities (as with any MMO out now), but to say it's an exact clone is silly. RIFT is more of a grind in my opinion, but besides that the game is solid. If you haven't played it then your opinion on RIFT doesn't really hold any ground at all.
