Like I said, warhammer was big on group quests which is a huge part of rift. Having played both I can tell you this logical point, meanwhile backfat would just call it a raid or building up faction points, so it's a wow ripoff.

No different than an intel fanboy going into an amd thread and ripping a chip that he would never even think about owning, because of what he heard one time.

This kind of ignorance and relying on second hand information is why kids are taught Columbus discovered America.
exactly.

we are trying to help the OP with information about the game. Backfat is giving his opinion on something he has no experience with.

Its the same as if the OP were asking if we think he should go sky diving, and back coming in here and saying that it sucks, its an exact ripoff of bungie jumping. Both cases are extremely stupid and no real help to the OP.

I've already proven what I had to, regardless of not playing the game, I do have eyes and a brain, and with my long history of MMO experience, can easily spot things when I see them.

I don't have to visit the ocean to know that it's wet.

Others have backed up my claims. Which wouldn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out after watching even 15 minutes of the game. If you watch a poker game on TV you know there are cards with pictures of Jacks, Queens and Kings. You don't have to play poker to know this.

Simple as that.

In the short period of time that I did get to play it, I lvld to 40, joined a guild and really wanted to get in to it, but the graphics constantly upset me, the movement of characters was to cartoony, gameplay, mechanics, and most of it wasnt enough to keep me playing after the free trial.
I dont think you can go over lvl 20 in free trial or even join a guild on that matter...
I really enjoy wow as i know the game through and through, I pvped so hard i broke my keyboard.
I played Rift in Closed beta and the game was fun , the graphics were excellent the story was engaging. Did not get hooked though. I quit wow recently as well , and sold my char for nice 400 usd
Now I bought TF2 might purchase Tera as the fighting looks great, I am proud of my pvp skills in MMORPGs as it is the genre i really excel at
Try MMOs out on the market one person cant tell you which one you will like. Right now I am waiting for Guild Wars 2 and getting collectioners edition of it. I would want to try Tera in free trail and then see if it was buying

And yes WoW and Rift are quite similar...

This argument is dumb. Maybe some of you can't judge something without having first tried it, but guess what -- some people aren't carbon copies of you. Some people have an easier time putting themselves in situations in their head (i.e. "put yourself in his shoes"), and some of them are surprisingly good at it.

I'm not talking about myself, but you guys need to get it out of your head that every person in the entire world is bound by the same limits you are bound by.

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with Backfat's argument, and yes - I've played (purchased) RIFT. I don't understand why you're so intent on aggressively bashing him for voicing his opinion, even when he repeatedly underlines the notion that it's subjective.

Some of it is pretty objective though. WoW and RIFT are very similar, and that's undeniable. You guys are getting overly defensive because you're misinterpreting(?) what he said.

I love cucumbers but hate zucchini. Zucchini looks and feels like a cucumber but doesn't taste the same.

Now, if I bashed zucchini without trying it, it would be a terrible way of judging it. Same thing applies here

I would like to say the following:

I tried on three occasions to get into WoW and the thing that always turned me off was the color/texture palate. WoW always felt kind of "bubble gum" to me. I too, am playing Rift while I wait for GW2 to launch.

As has been said, Rift is a lot like WoW except for a few differences.
1) The palate is more "Mature", if you will.
2) The Occurrences of Rifts adds for some spontaneous fighting.
3) The story line is very highly developed, from the very start - something I don't remember being the case with WoW.
4) The ability to develop your Class is more varied, although not as nicely rounded as Guild Wars.

I have been playing Rift since Beta 6. I don't have gobs of time to play, maybe an hour or so a night. As such, my main toon is only level 35 of 50 and I still have much story content to go through. This is a big plus for me, as I am one of those rare MMOgamers that enjoys the story line- an element which I can not remember being prominent in WoW (which may be my own fault for not hanging in there long enough).

In Sum, if you like to be entertained by the story as much as the glory; if you like a more graphic novel feel to your presentation; and, if you like a break to the kill-quest grind, then you might ought to try Rift.

Look at Darkspore. It comes out in 2 days. Very RPG like but with multiplayer. No monthly fee as well. It's made by Maxis so you know it will be good.
