I've got 2 1TB Hitachi's and I haven't had any problems with them so far, although I did have one come DOA, but that could happen with just about any brand.

For only $20 more you could get 2x Samsung F4 2TB and run them in RAID0. You'll have 4TB of storage and more than twice the speed. Get them while you can!

If you don't need 3TB, then a single F4 2TB is only $80 with free shipping from newegg.

You'll really not notice any difference between a 64mb vs a 32mb cache. Go with whatever's cheapest.

I just bought an F4 to go in an external enclosure myself because I love my F3's so much. I also like Western Digital drives though, but I've never used a Caviar Green so I can't really comment on them. Since Samsung sold their HDD division to Seagate I'll probably go back to Western Digital once the Samsungs are gone.

At Newegg they're the same price right now. I thought I saw something about design flaws with the Caviar Greens though, but I never really researched into it too much.

The design flaw only occurs when people use the greens as a boot drive. If you use them as media/backup/storage drives you'll never encounter the problem.

Hence why when I read that piece of news I didn't even think twice. My six WD greens are perfectly fine.
