If i get this mobo:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=A455-3037

It says :
Processor Interface: LGA1155
Processors Supported: 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7

I honestly don't know what are first gen or 2nd gen i7's.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Sku=CP1-I7-940

Nope, because socket 1366 isn't compatible with 1155. The CPU either needs to be socket 1155, or the motherboard needs to be socket 1366 (in other words, they both have to match).

to add to the above answer, the first gen of iCore chips have a 3 digit model number (ie, the one you displayed is i7 940)

the second gen chips are the "sandy bridge" chips and will have a 4 digit model number (ie, the second gen i7 is 2600)

Definitely. They all do.

It's just that some motherboards don't natively support Crossfire or SLI (but there are hacks that trick the motherboard into working).
