2 Different brands of RAM. Is this safe?

I have 4GB (2x2) installed right now and it is A-DATA DDR3-1333 RAM. I want4 more GB (another 2x2). I can't find the same RAM anywhere though. Would it be okay to have 2 different brands installed?

It's safe, but it might be harder to stabilize. If possible, find sticks with the same timings and voltage and it should be easier.

However, I would recommend you selling your kit and getting these for $75 with the promo code. 2 sticks is going to stress the memory controller less (higher overclock and/or less CPU-NB voltage required) and the memory is also faster.

Isn't 4x2GB more efficient? And would someone someone actually buy my RAM on eBay? It isn't meant for gaming or anything, it is just regular ram.

depends, open your task manager and monitor it when you play games and stuff. If your memory usage is mostly high then yes you would need more ram but if you're not using up all that ram then you're just tossing all your money away. Hardly anyone can even use up to 8gb of ram unless you have viruses or running a server probably.

No, it's going to be running in dual channel regardless and all 4 sticks does is stress the CPU more. It's really up to you if you want to get that 2 x 4GB kit, it was just a suggestion. For 1333mhz you should be able to run 4 sticks of memory fine if you have a C3 stepping CPU, C2 stepping might require a ton of CPU-NB voltage or downclocking to 1066mhz.

I'm sure someone would be willing to buy any sort of 1333mhz RAM for cheap, 90% of normal computer users don't even know what timings and frequency are, they just look for the amount of gigabytes.
