Would this board be okay? And what CPU?

It's a ECS A790GXM-AD3. I've never heard of the brand "ECS" which brings up a red flag, but it's so cheap and looks pretty durable. So my question for this board is it A-okay when it comes down to power phases and such? I'd rather not have my house burn down.

My second question is what CPU should I get? I'm just a gamer, with a little bit of encoding here and there for school video projects (1080P). I'm thinking about a quad AthlonX4 or a Phenom IIx2 black.

Thanks, Bakingsoda.

Edit:I'm on a 150 dollar budget for CPU&Mobo.

I found this review.

But it looks like a 4 phase power though...
I'm assuming it would be alright as long as you don't try and throw a X6 on it.

Eh, if you're not overclocking you should be OK.

I remember back in 2006 (so long ago!) I was working at Fry's Electronics as a salesman and someone asked me if ECS was a good brand so long as they didn't overclock. I really didn't want to sell them an ECS as they terribly cheap, but I honestly couldn't think of a legitimate reason as to why a non-overclocker wouldn't be okay with it, so he ended up buying it. It wasn't my sell anyway, he was just asking a question and this is all just a random reminscence. So I'm going to go with so long as you don't stress your system you should be okay, go for it.

Decent board for a good price. The 790gx will work for streaming video playback. The mosfets are heatsinked and 4+1 phase power rated to 140w so you should be fine with a moderate overclock on a non x6 chip.

I would take the Athlon II X4 over the Phenom II X2. If the Phenom II X2 doesn't unlock (I had one that didn't, sold it to a friend), you are stuck with a dual core and some programs / games perform significantly better on quad cores. The extra 2 cores >> L3 cache in certain situations.

Also, if you are more concerned about single threaded performance you might want to consider an i3 + motherboard combo as they are faster single threaded and should be ~150.
