Am I the only one completely dissapointed with Portal 2 - Page 2

I paid £28 and I'm more than happy. Played it for about 25 hours so far, replayed a bunch of levels on SP, completed MP and replayed a bunch of those levels, messed around with cheats and stuff.. Great game if you ask me. More than worth the price I paid for it. If only games like this were released more regularly.

I can't even imagine how much fun that could be...
That's a planned addition in the future, I think.

The OP must think that Garry's Mod is pointless and boring, and the entire Half Life series is absolute crap too...

You were too engaged on the puzzle solving to enjoy the game and what it had to offer, hence why you found it quick and easy to win. Personally I took my sweet time doing it. I finished in around a total time of around 8 hours. I suppose you are the kind of person who beat the first Portal game in like half an hour.

Slow down. Seriously. It's not hard.

It is pretty easy, most all of it is straight forward, has some laughs, but some of it seemed like they were trying too hard. Glad I got it on gamefly first, I'll buy it when steam puts it on sale.

Yeah, I got it right between the time it came out Monday night and when the reviews started coming out Tuesday morning so I didn't have the time to check out what other players were saying until I got home from work Tuesday evening.

Yeah but I have no one to play it with. I grew up a consoler gamer and I was a console gamer up until PS2 and I had my PS2 until the PS3 came out and thats around the time I got into PC gaming (and I'll never look back) but it wasn't until PC gaming that I got into online play so long explanation short I don't typically look at buying a game and see "Online play" as part of the main selling points unless it were an MMO which I'm not into.

I think game dev's (again, depends on game genre) should focus on creating a solid, fun, and some what long single player (10+ hrs) and offer the online play as just an added bonus. At least that's how it used to be when online gaming was still in it's infancy. Now we're paying extra for DLC's which are actually part of the main game and paying for extra completely useless crap like character costumes and hats but that's a whole different rant...

Yeah pretty much that was my main rant in the OP... And that was what I was expecting after portal 1 and after reading the reviews.

Nah don't have any friends, I work and study too much. The guy who emailed me about portal 1 last year wasn't ever really much of a friend. Sadly, the co op portion of the game will go untouched for me.

I'm not familiar with Garry's Mod and unfortunately I havn't played the Half Life series yet (it's on my to do list). Yeah, I was engaged in the puzzle solving to enjoy the game. I mean, the game I bought was a puzzle game was it not? Did I miss something? It's not like I blasted right through it with the intention of going on a forum and bragging how quickly I beat it, actually I wish it was the other way around where I was complaining that they made a level impossible to beat. There wasn't any depth to the puzzles with each one working on the same type of thinking as the last so it soon got repetitious. And I did enjoy the level design, textures and the dialogue just to mention a few of the things I did like, I just think I over payed and that disappointment is strong enough to at least get on here and legitimately express my disappointment and I'm not one to usually come on here and vent, you can check all my other threads...

Oh well, life goes on

Are you seriously telling someone that they are playing the game to fast? What the hell? What is he going to do, grind for 1337 gear in order to make the game last longer? It's fricken Portal 2.

To be fair this guy has a point. There are no limiting factors that decide how fast you play Portal, it's literally just down to how good you are with puzzles.

I remember the day vividly when my friend sent me an email in the morning telling me to download it. I spent the whole day immersed in Portal (1) and completely blew off school and work for that one day because I just had to get that cake that was promised to me.

Well I bought Portal 2 after reading all the awesome reviews and the only way to sum up how I feel about spending $50 on this new game is, "The cake is a lie" and in this case the cake would be the hype for portal 2. Now, I'm no puzzle master mind but I was able to go through each level of portal 2 with ease, and I was never stumped for more than a minute and beat the game in about 4.5 hours. I kept thinking to myself, "when is it going to get more challenging?" until I ended up at the end of the game. Money down the drain, no replay value at all as I expected but if there is no replay value IMO you better put some effort into making the game longer than 4 hours. Portal 1 had larger levels with more diverse puzzles. It seems like the developers in portal 2 wanted to make the game easy for you by spot lighting certain area's that make it too obvious that's where you're supposed to shoot your portal.

It's a great looking game, love the voice acting, and I laughed quite a few times at the dialog but in hindsight I would've never paid $50 for this game. I think $30 would have been fair and don't get me started at the absurd idea of trying to sell character customizations for the online characters. What a pathetic grab for cash.

The hype is a lie.
Agreed. Even though I haven't finished it, in hindsight it really is a portal game. I say that because when I think back to it, if portal never had any voice acting/minimal voice acting it would have stunk. 60% of the fun in portal was the plot and the dialogue, especially considering the dialogue was all one sided.

The only part of portal 2 I hated was the descent, only because there was barely any voice acting/plot.

This game isn't fun just because of the puzzles, its fun because of the puzzles fitting together into the plotline, like an even larger puzzle with the pieces fitting together.

You said you were laughing about the voice dialogue. It was hilarious, ie, turning GLaDos into a potato. Or when GLaDos tricked Wheatley into shocking himself when he tried to correct her.

Or when she told Wheatley the paradox and it went straight over his head. So d*mn funny.

When was the last time a game made you laugh that much? I can't even remember any game that made me laugh a fraction of the time portal 2 has.

I may not know the ending to portal 2, but the ending to portal 1 was the first happy ending to a videogame I've had in years (I bought it while waiting for crysis 2 a month or so ago). The second was crysis 2.

That's why portal and portal 2 are such fun games, they aren't just videogames, they are novels. They are adventures. They are the first game I've been in where I literally felt like I was living a movie.

That's why they are so much fun.
