Running different memory chips...

Thread Starter
I have two sets of Super Talent Memory Chips. One is the 2000MHZ CL7 (6GB kit) and the other is a 1800MHZ CL7 (6GB Kit). My question is, can I run all 6 chips at 1800MHZ? Is it possible and forgive me if this is a dumb question...Thanks!

You should be able to, if the 1800Mhz kit isn't hypers you just have to run the speed/timings the lesser kit can do.

Would the performance decrease if I goto CL8?

Not necessarily with a higher frequency, you would really have to benchtest the different setups to see the differences in read/write/copy & latency.

Edit: This in-house competition starts in a week, get in on it or watch the thread as it goes on, you could probably learn a lot about memory overclocking & the differences in speeds & timings.
edit again: forgot the link... http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...ness-mkii.html
