Tri-slot isn't really a barrier to SLI especially on 1155 boards, though admittedly you didn't state what motherboard he has.

I'd say go with the MSI TFIII 570 then.

Hmm, missed that. On that board Three slot cards definitely aren't excluded from SLI since the third slot does run in x8. Course, since you wouldn't go reference with 570s, you could always just put the 3 slot card on the bottom and go with a 2-slot top if the 2 fps difference from x8 to x16 matters.
