5850 Preformance

Thread Starter
I just bought
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102932

and a 23in LCD locally that does 1920x1080, to upgrade my 1366x768 LCD.

So my question is very simple, what kind of preformance should i expect.

Games I play

L4D2
BF:BC2 Vietnam
Call of Duty BlackOps
Call of Duty World at War
World of Warcraft Cataclysm
Mass Effect 2
Crysis 2
Crysis Wars

And a bunch of older games.

I know on my GTX275 I could max these at my old res of 1366x768, but how will a 5850 handle it at 1920x1080?

Also anything useful I need to know last card from ATI/AMD I owned was an HD3870+HD3850 512mb Crossfire setup that I replaced in 2008 due to poor scaling i think mostly because at the time I also ran an X2 4200 so it was bottlenecked.

It will handle them beautifully, with 8xAA too.

I am speaking from personal experience.

Should be fine.

Just don't go crazy with Crysis 2 and Crysis Wars.

Everything else should run butter smooth maxed out.

As long as you don't crank up settings past the level that they will help anymore (AA, shadows) then you will be all set to max games on the 5850 at your new res..congrats!

5850 is more than enough for most games now. most.

Just picked up metro 2033 last night for 5 bucks.
Wow does it destroy my rig with 4x AA. makes me laugh. but whatever its fine set to AAA.

Friend of mine just bought one of these.
Works nice like expected. When i saw the review of this xtreme edition the wrote that it is o.c. to 800MHz! The one we got was not
Anyway this doesn`t make sense to sell it as a "xtreme"-bla. Every 12year old kid can go into ccc and bump this thing up. But a nice 5850 for that low price!
When everything goes wrong with your fps ingame (which i doubt) then you could get a second one.
