GPU Solution for CM Storm Scout?

Ok so when I first did this build I just wanted my case to be shhhhhhh silent. Wasn't too bothered about EyeFinity (still not just yet) or playing games at super high detail at 1080

However... I am bored. My better half is away all summer so I was thinking of just going with a purchase and frittering my life away.

However, I only realised the other day after looking at some open-box deals that I can only fit a 10.6" card in this bloody case, which leaves me with the following options:

1. Dremel out and get a 6970/6950 (probably last choice but I will consider it)
2. XFire 2 smaller cards
3. Just get a smaller card and live with "better than I have, not as good as I could"

Budget is around $275, but would prefer to keep it lower if there isn't a significant performance increase.

Any ideas?

Almost anything that you choose that's over $100 will be an upgrade for you.

You can get 6790's in Crossfire for $275 or for a single-card solution you can get a GTX 560 which is on par with a 6950 and is only 9.5inches long, perfect for your case.

Hey man, thanks for the advice.

A couple of things that concern me a little with the 560s though:

1. There are a lot of complaints that they are very loud
2. Am I paying a price premium for physX which I don't really care about?

Also, why are the NVidia cards coming with so limited outputs? XFire with the 6790s comes with outputs galore, but is the extra power consumption and performance worth it?

Also, I will probably be running any GPU that I buy at stock speed unless overclocking is incredibly simple and safe - I don't really want to blow a card the week after I buy it
