A few questions regarding setting up for the CC.

Thread Starter
I took part last year, and I might as well do so this year.

However, as the very last time I folded was the last CC, I'm completely out of the folding loop. Apparently there have been several new GPU and CPU clients since the last CC, as well as an incompatibility between HWMonitor or something with the new clients (I think).

Can I get a quick walkthrough of how to set my machine up for the maximum possible points (I.E. what clients, what configurations, how can I monitor PPD, prove my participation, ect.)

Thanks!

See signatures for the up to date clients.
You can use either v6 or v7 it depends on you...

Mind you v7 is a little buggy but its an all in one client, and v6 isn't.
PPD is the same on both though.

You could download GPU tracker V2 and let it do it for you.

Excellent, I'll give those a go.

Okay, so I downloaded the v7 client and ran setup for SMP as detailed in this thread.

Two questions:

1) How do I add my 580 as a folder?
2) The work queue seems to be stuck on 'Download', but without actually downloading anything. Why? I clicked 'Fold', but nothing happens.

Do you have any firewall that may be blocking it?
Also try running it as admin by right-click, run as admin.

To add the 580 just go to expert mode in the dropdown box in the top right then...
Configure > Slots > Add > GPU

I thought PeerGuardian was blocking, but disable it and there's no change.

Other than that, no.

Running under Admin account, no need.

Thanks.

This is working.

A side note, is there some way I can limit the percentage of each processor it uses, EG. Limit GPU folding to 80% or something?

Also, how do I rename or tag clients so I know which is which?

Doesn't matter, try it anyway!
It has more to do than just running under the admin account.

You can limit GPU folding in v6 but not v7, you can use both clients since they are stand alone.
So if you need to limit it to 80% just download v6 GPU3 and in the configuration you can move the slider, just make sure you remove the GPU slot from v7.

Still doesn't matter; they're both working now, for no reason whatsoever.

But v6 requires HWMonitor, right? And isn't as user friendly as 7?
