hmmm, I had the same issue when I installed it...now fixed. I'm running at 1440x900 maxed out but my framerate is like 20 to teens as well. I guess a dedicated physx card could help, but honestly I would have rather gone with a GTX 470 when I originally built my rig...oh well, I'll upgrade eventually.

For the record, there's such a thing as 'Software PhysX', and lots of games that use it. Such games will require the PhysX software to be installed if you want to run them, regardless of your graphics card. Heck, Vantage even requires physX to be installed.

My HD 6950 with unlocked shaders and OC'd to 6970 speeds preforms noticably better than my previous GTX 570.

I know this is a necro but this game has been re-released FREE and at the time I first played it I had nvidia, now I have ati, but the free release reminded me I wanted to play it again. I clean installed between last time I played btw so no nvidia left overs.

I found a very easy solution to this problem, besides messing with all the solutions here, if you run M2033 from your steam folder it bypasses whatever physx loading steam has built into it. So the issue is steam messing something up. Im sure the other solutions work but are much more annoying to do. I don't know if this problem happens on non steam though.
