It came inside the PC I purchased in August 2010. I am running some benchmarks atm and I will check in like 10 minutes. Thanks for the info!

that hyper 212 won't be enough to reach 4GHz. At least use some delta fans, or upgrade to a corsair h50 or tt frio.

Or go balls out and get a NH-D14 or a Thermalright Silver Arrow.

Alright so I found out I have a C3. Is there any way that I would be able to reach 3.8 without increasing voltage?

There's more to just upping voltage though for a successful overclock.

Check around, there's bound to be some guides somewhere on here.

Good luck.
BSOD cannot brick hardware, but is it true that it can cause software corruption?

@3.8 you will need to increase vcore, altough not too much. @4 you will need a higher vcore.

Not true. It depends on the processor. If he can hit 4ghz on 1.52v he will be fine. The max temps on a 965 is 62c. I prefer to stay under 55c but if you can keep it under ~58c while under full load then he will be fine.

1.52 @4GHz, that's too high. A higher vcore translates in more heat. Maybe you live in a cold city.

Again, not always true. It depends on the processor, you just got lucky with your phenom II. My c2 at 1.52 never got above 56c with my v8. The max safe vcore on a phenom II is 1.55 on air. Yes, more vcore means more heat, but 1.52 is not too high.
