HELP! bad performance from 6870

I recently received my HIS 6870 off ebay a couple days ago. The guy bought it from newegg and I guess resold them, It came in the box and was unopened brand new. I re-did all the wiring to the motherboard and made it neater when I put the 6870 in. After I did that I started it up, downloaded the driver it came with, rebooted it and then updated the driver to the newest version on the ATI website (11.3).

I downloaded Unigine heaven and it scored around 1200 I can't remember exactly the number but it seemed quite low to me when i compared it with other peoples results.

I then downloaded crysis 2 and dirt 2 which were both TORRENTED so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But on crysis 2 I tried max settings and it was pretty damn terrible just from moving the gun around it would stutter and lagg like a mofo (don't know the fps because i don't know how to check it)

On dirt 2 i ran a benchmark test at ultra settings 8xaa multisampling and got a pathetic 38.5fps average and a 30 fps minimum. The graphics on it don't look as good either as the videos i have seen, the dirt shooting from the tires looks retarded and sort of blocky like the older games.

I have also noticed a VERY annoying typing lagg which is self explanitory it makes my typing slow and late when i press the keys.

Here is my system specs..
-750w ultra power
-965 black edition quad core @ 3.4ghz
-HIS HD 6870
-asus m4a78t-e motherboard
-8gb 1600mhz corsair vengeance
-500gb hard drive
-asus dvd burner

If you think it may be because of the games being torrented what would be a good way to check the performance of my 6870 to see if it's up to speed and looking good?? this is pissing me off, thanks for the help..

Ever think to check out that PSU? Which model is it?

Also what kind of hard drive do you have?

You can check your graphics cards stats using MSi Afterburner. There is a way under settings to enable it to show many different variables while in game on the screen itself, such as FPS, GPU temps, Fan speed, etc.

Generally not going to get help with pirated games. A lot of the time the crack presents a whole new slew of problems that may not exist in a legitimate version.

What resolution are you running? At something like 1080p with 8x supersampling you're probably running out of VRAM, not to mention the 6870 was only intended to be a midrange card.

ARRRR!!! they don't call me long john silvers for nothin!

Anywho.. I just downloaded MSI kombustor and ran the benchmark test and scored a 1344 LOL!...

Im running crysis and dirt at around 1024 X 768 resolution as i only have an 18" dell monitor at the moment (rofl)

And my PSU is by "ultra" 750w..

I know this is a mid range card but i should still be getting a steady 60fps on dirt and higher scores from the bechmarks

This is messed up

Fair dinkum, if you pirated those games don't count on much help from us.
Man at 1080p with a decent monitor you don't need/want 8xAA with just one 6870.

Edit: I guess he did and he didn't read the rules.

Do you actually OWN any games?

As someone said there may be software issues with ones that you steal off the internet.

Give it a shot with a legit copy of something, not Kombustor, and report back.

Did you install drivers off disk then go to AMD's site and download new drivers and install them OVER the disk drivers? If so that's your problem.

Follow the directions on this website. Including downloading Driversweeper.

You don't need to install display drivers as soon as you boot into Windows. It can get by by itself for a few minutes while you DL the proper drivers.

As a rule of thumb never download drivers over old ones, sometimes parts of the files conflict with each other and cause input lag such as the typing errors and even stuttering and lag in game.
