CPU-Z Clock speed and multiplier always changing

Thread Starter
And if I try to disable SpeedStep or C1E in the BIOS it bumps back to default clocks. Yes, I have ran stress tests under full load, but it still shows only 3.4-3.6GHz and shows my multiplier as 29 when it should be 32...

My BIOS shows 4.27GHz, along with Intel desktop control center, but not in CPU-Z. Seems pretty strange. I am on a DX58SO board.

Here is a picture of all my settings:

Any suggestions?

that's a weird one, have you tried disabling just eist or c1e, etc.? Just one at a time, I had a bloodrage where some of the power saving options had to be enabled for turbo to work but 1 thing turned off allows cpu-z to show the real clockspeed at all times.
May be the same idea, but would allow you to change the multi. You have unlocked multi so don't need turbo...

not sure if you have turbo enabled. but if you have it enabled it will cancel out all the power saving settings. So if you turn all them off and enable turbo it changes them back

I currently have turbo enabled, but are you saying that I should turn it off?

If you don't want the multi to not change and stay at what you have set. Then yes turn it off and disable eist/C1e, Speed step.

Something that does seem to work okay at the moment is this:

I changed each of the multipliers in the intel desktop control center all to 32:

1-Core Multiplier - 32
2-Core Multiplier - 32
Etc.

I still do have Speedstep enabled, but not C1E.

Do you think this is a good choice?

I personally like to keep them all on. As i don't see no need to idle @ 4.0GHZ when it is just sitting there. As i like saving on the power and cutting down on the heat. I know it is there is i need it and that is all that matters.

have you changed your power options to performance? when mines on performance it leaves it maxed out but on balanced it would step down.

Yes, I've done that too.

EDIT: Changing them all to 32 only worked for 5 minutes. Now I'm back to 3.6Ghz. :/
