Asus g71gx lags/overheats after 5min

Hey guys, im not really a tech guy, so some help would be much appreciated!!

So I have the Asus g71gx laptop that slows down like no tomorrow when I game for 5min even on the lowest possible graphics settings. I've looked around regarding this issue and already tried updating the bios 1201 or the latest 1704 for win7-64bit. But nothing was solved..which makes me really sad =( I tried buying a cooling pad as well and cleaning the fans inside of my laptop too.. Anyways if you guys got any suggestions, please let me know!

run prime95 and HWmonitor and tell us the temps.

I never used this before HAha! let me know if i did this wrong..
I ran, "In-place large FFTs (maximum heat, power consumption, some RAM tested)"

Well, it's definitely overheating. Has it always been slowing down when you game or did this just start recently? The CPU should definitely not be that hot.

100C is too hot. Now, you should be hitting like 80C in gaming, prime95 is 100% load, gaming only hits like 70%. Depends on the game.

Buy yourself some compressed air, and blow into the vents. if possible take the back cover off so you can see the mainboard, and blow the heatsinks off with air.

@Smallville, yes it has always been doing that..I also work with 3D realtime rendering engines (Marmoset Toolbag), it would lag the same way after a few minutes in if it was heavy geometry or lighting changes. Gaming is the worst case so far though. Is it possible that something with the hardware is fried due to the heat?

@SpeedNuggeT, yeah ill try and get compressed air tomorrow and see if it makes any changes..

j/w Is it plugged in? Have to ask because if its not and you have power settings to save battery power it will lag you.

@magna224, yeah my laptop is usually plugged into the wall with the battery taken out. Hmm..power options? I have it set at "Asus Standard Mode" if thats what you mean

Get some canned air and blow out the fans and heatsinks, laptop is def overheating

prop up the back so more air can circulate

Put the battery back in, you might be causing power reduction due to lack of power supply. I've had a weak AC adapter cause issues where if you load the system enough, it would overpower the power supply and start draining the battery... battery charges back up ovbiously after done loading but still, power supplies sometimes not enough.

@TitaniumClocker, Interesting.. yeah the reason why my battery pack is not in when my laptop is plugged to the wall.. cuz I was told the battery would eventually die from overcharging. So what your saying is, because the battery isnt in along with my laptop being plugged in, its causing the lag? could that be?

I have been getting random shutdowns too after getting a cintiq12wx as a 2nd monitor (if it has to do with this problem) But the lag/overheat problem was there way before I bought it though

You guys are great by the way! Asus still hasnt replied to me about this issue =/
