Dual Monitor Down clock

Thread Starter
Alright, I've done a lot of searching on this and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. I'm using 2 6950s in crossfire, an Acer GD235HZ and a LG 22in 1680x1050. My top card will down clock the gpu to 450, but will not down clock the memory. I've tried setting a custom 2d profile in MSI Afterburner, but it seems to override it to 1250 no matter what. Is there a way around this at all? Thanks

Do you have the cards overclocked at all? I have had problems with my card, where it won't down clock correctly if I have it overclocked.

I do overclock them, however, it still will not down clock the memory if I reset them to stock.

It's better than my GTX 275 which doesn't clock down memory or even core/shader at idle due to my two monitors.

Anyone with dual monitors at the same resolution have this "problem". I realize it's probably not a problem and that AMD wants it to be this way (for whatever reason).

I have the same problem, maybe it is because 2 screens need a bit more memory usage, so it does not clock the memory lower so you don't get lag when shifting open apps between screens or working on both

If the memory clocks changes, you will start to see flickering.

This is a known issue for ATI. As memory clocks change, dual screen setups start flickering so by locking the memory clocks, there will be no flickering.

Take a look at your BIOS in RBE and see what you find out. Report back.

Yea you don't want the memory to down clock, I have dual monitors and a 5870 and my memory never drops below 1200 but my core switches depending on what I am doing.
