HELP! The right way to overclock / help me hit 4.4 stable on a horrible motherboard

Ok so I have been reading and reading when I overclock and re-overclock my system.

I'm now wanting to push it to 4.3 or 4.4 as I have watercooling.

I just can't seem to get things working right and I don't know why. I have been reading lots of overclocking done by others and done sort of an averaging of the min max and ideal voltages for the different components but there is just so much different information i'm getting stuck!

What i'm trying to is build a concrete list of terms and the different names given to the same thing.

Work out a few things and find out which is better such as is a bigger fsb better than bigger multipliers

Here is a screenshot of my bios please help me out and help squash some of the incorrect information floating around because I really tried to get a concrete overclock but the right information I couldn't find!!


Excuse the images it's hard to take with my webcam from my laptop if you need better ones I can try but I think they are readable enough

Try reducing your NB frequency a little.

how to properly overclock, you say?
well now, there are plenty of ways to "properly" overclock, but it seems now days people want to just throw volts and put the chip as high as they can.
I was taught by first finding what your chip can do on stock volts, but seeings how we don't have to worry about fsb/ htt wholes we can skip that.
first thing is first, turn your ram down to the minimum (eliminates any possibility of the ram being the culprit). You also would lower your HT and northbridge to either stock or the known best lowest setting. Now you can begin working on maxing your cpu.

Ok so i have been busy but im starting now and I would be upping my cpu muliplier as far as it will go before adding a voltage interval until I can no longer reapeat the process with safe voltage?

Yes, but take a quick prime95 run for 10-20 minuets every other increase of multiplier. The higher the multiplier, the longer the prime95 run just to get an idea if it's stable. When you've reached your goal for the cpu freq than run prime95 for at least 8 hours, most would run it for 12-24 hrs to ensure stability.

Keep everything else at stock values, but manually entered in bios (not on auto)

Once you have cpu stabilized time to isolate the mobo and find it's limits.

Cheers, instead of prime95 I have been just letting it boot and sit for a bit as my computer autostarts grid computing at max capacity and I watch the temps and see if it BSOD's once I reach my goal speed I will run prime95 for 24 hours.

Can you see anything wrong with my current method? Is it that different from prime?

There is not proper way per se. What I do is look at what others set for said chip and try playing around within those settings for the clock speed I want. Once I hit what I want, I try playing even more till I use the minimum required voltage possible

The proper way to do this is:

Up multi/base clock
Test for 2 hours with P95
Up again
test
up gain
test
repeat till your not stable. Try backing down till you are stable

I can do 3.8 on air but problem being is temps. I have hit 4.2GHz though out side when it was 20f
