Anyone ever use a ball mouse for gaming? - Page 7

I got rid of my ball mouse sometime in 2000 lol--before I played anything more intense than Neopets mini games

I used to be pretty good playing unreal. But I dunno if I could still compete with one now that not everyone is using them.

I just plugged in my old Logitech Mouseman USB ball mouse yesterday; just to see how it felt now compared to my Cooler Master Sentinel Zero-G and my old Logitech G5.
I dunno, I kinda like it. It's so old and worn, the logo long since worn off, some of the little nubs on the rubbery side either worn or scratched off. Feels like it moves at about 600-ish dpi, and it is a little bit jumpy (some dirt in there probably). I'm going to run it through some UT and see how that goes.

Old game for old mouse.

I bought the G5 because I was tired of cleaning this thing every couple of days. Military dorm A/C systems need to be cleaned out more often. I mean, I didn't even have a cat or anything, it just got so bad so fast.

I have always preferred my ball mouse. I was amazing with it, just had to keep it clean. Optical mice just could not keep up with my playstyle (flick shots), until better technology. My deathadder is one of the best mice I could ask for as a ball mouse replacement. Works extremely well for my quakelive ownage.

I was an extensive user of ball mice back in the days (railgun on q2ctf2), wingman from logitech i remember especially. Good old times.

I used ball mice back in the days during CS 1.3-1.5. I was doing fine with ball mice or optical. I see no reason to blame the mouse. If you got the skills doesn't matter if your using ball mice or optical, just need to adapt and get used to it.

Yessss, the MouseMan 96 (beige version of Wingman Mouse); Gramma got one of those with her Gateway Pentium II (450 Mhz) gaming computer. Thing also came with a Voodoo Banshee.

Yea, my grandmother plays games. She's awesome. She also watches Farscape.

I never used the middle button, did you? I think I found out it was a double-click, thought that was pretty cool, and never got into the habit of actually using it to double click.

Wasn't actually that bad if you kept the things clean. Had more than enough instances of cleaning a mouse in the middle of a competitive match, but then everyone else probably did too.
