This is true, in fact most good power supplies can supply more than their rated power because they underrate them. That being said, the OP hasn't provided us with any information on his PSU and until we get that I think we should hold our suggestions.

Even if the 280 doesnt have DX11, all games will still be smooth, playable, and look good.

Get 5770. You may score higher with gtx 280 on benchmarks, but that doesn't mean they will run better in real gaming. Never go back to older generation cards!

The GTX 280 is better, but I wouldn't recommend either. I'd recommend a GTX 460 1gb.

Yes thank you all for your help on this situation. I have been able to find both cards for $80 each and it seems like most people prefer the 280. My power supply is a Rosewill 400w I think this is it but I bought it second hand online http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-021-_-Product

Its a pretty decent power supply with what I'm running now.

since your gaming on a 19inch monitor get the 5770 and be happy .before i got my gtx 460 and my new screen . i had a viewsonic 19inch non widescreen and a xfx 5770 . played wow and bc2 maxed out .got a bigger screen and better gpu cause im getting old cant see as good as before . kind of think of it maybe i shouldve gotten a bigger screen lol. hey just notice your sig that cpu rocketfish i had that before i got my corsair h50 . thats the rebranded cm tx3. its an awsome cooler i still have mines on the side .

Around here Sapphire 5850 Xtreme sells for same price as 5770's and is as fast as they are in crossfire.. So get one of those if you can find.
