What Nvidia Video card will bottleneck a Phenom II X4 840? - Page 2

Just get whatever graphics card you feel comfortable buying. You can always update the rest of your rig a little later if it is too slow for you.

I would just get the best card you can afford. The better the card you get the better the performance you are going to get. It doesnt matter if it gets bottlenecked. Also if you get a better cpu in the future you will be able to upgrade graphics wise at the same time as the bottle necking would diminish.

Im thinking of getting the 465.. Im not too concerned about the heat and noise. I hear that clock for clock the 465 pulls ahead of the 460.

Get either the 460 or 470. The 465 will lose to a 460 @ 900MHz iirc. Only get a 465 if the model is 100% unlockable to 470.

But what if you over-clock the 465? Wouldn't it beat a 460? The 465 is $10 difference because its one sale.

Read this review.

I was a little too strong against the 465 in my previous post. The 465 is faster out of the box than the 460. Once both are overclocked, they perform fairly evenly. The 460's used less power and made less heat and noise. The 465 is a cut-down 470.

It is up to you which one you want.

Looks like i will be going with the GTX 460, I wanted to get he GTX 465 because it just may Flash to a 470 but thats a huge gamble since the ones that can flash to a 470 are few now. the GTX 465 is a Zotac brand, do those brands flash?

Depends on the game really. But yeah, I think any Phenom II should do the job well, the athlon IIs might have troubles though.
