With a 3-rd of what you ve spend on your rig the OP can play any game , BOTTLENECKED as you say ,without knowing he is bottlenecked.
Funny, yet he keeps comparing it to more expensive Intel CPU's as usual, when even a re-branded Athlon II plays any game just fine.
But,what do we AMD "fanboys" know when our CPU's are crap.
All he does anymore is fanboy spam that his precious 2500K is faster.

I don t want 1000 FPS-s because i can t see them ,even my digital monitor can t display them properly.
If the performance goes to under 30 FPS-s i upgrade ,simple as that.
Which is ok cost wise for my pocket.

God you guys are so far off the point of this thread its ridiculous.

You don't just bottleneck at high fps, you bottleneck at low fps as well.

Nobody is saying the AMD cpus are crap.

What people have been ATTEMPTING to convey is that a BUDGET cpu is a BAD pair with HIGH END GPUS.

Its almost commonsense, except here, where its not.

A ATI 5770 or a Nvidia 450 should work just fine.

It would be best to split the $200,$100 for a Athlon II X4 (faster than a original Phenom),and the other $100 on a HD5770 or a GTX460 if you can find one for $100.

It really seems that way.
He apparently had a Phenom II X6 which I find hard to believe, before getting a 2500K( just for SLI )

I think the OP should go with a gtx 460 1gb model. He should get great performance from this card. He may get a slight bottleneck particularly no L3 cache on that processor is really the only problem I see. But he should still be able to pretty much own most games with that set up. I would recommend the gtx 460 768mb model, but I just think the extra performance of the 1gb model even if it is a little bottle necked is worth it.

I'm rocking the gtx 560 TI on a lowly AMD Phenom II x4 925, and my system straight up owns every game I have. Starcraft 2 is very cpu intensive yet with my set up I can play with all the graphic settings maxed out in giant 4vs4 battles and I can't even notice any lag whatsoever. I am a pretty hardcore starcraft 2 player with relatively high actions per minute, and my system can still easily meet my needs on the highest graphical settings.

Sure the 560 ti would be even faster on an Intel, but it still is VERY NICE on my AMD. I think the 560 TI or the AMD 6950 are pretty much the sweet spot if your overclocking the higher end AMD Phenom II models (quad or hex cores with L3 cache). If you overclock your phenom II you will get amazing gaming performance with these graphics cards as long as your OK with the fact that you will be technically Bottle necked. If you want a graphics card with almost no bottleneck at all I think the gtx 460 1gb model is the way to go, although the 560 ti or AMD 6950 will be faster overall.

Really from my point of view the AMD processors are still easily fast enough for gaming. Sure Intel is WAY faster, but really Intel and the highest end graphics cards are actually quite a bit ahead of the demands of nearly ever game. Until games start requiring a lot more power AMD platforms are doing just fine (even with the bottlenecks), and Bulldozer is right around the corner.

I mean I could sit here all day wishing I had an Intel so my 560 ti would be even faster, but honestly it is performing amazingly for my personal needs so I would definitely recommend a single 560 ti for the high end AMD users.

^ All I'm saying.

I'm not hating on AMD. I'm just trying to help the OP locate a card that provides great performance in almost all games without him seeing lower gpu usage due to his cpu and having the feeling of "I spent $100 extra on this card and I can't even enjoy that boost".

I know the feeling, I water cooled a single gtx 470 and my Phenom II chip could not keep up. I felt like I had wasted my money ($90) but at the time I was content with it because I knew I had an upgrade path (sb/sli).

The gtx 460 is a great card and will perform well with his system, as will the 560. I wouldn't argue against either card, however the performance boost from the 560 may not be all that great for the cost difference.

Practically for budget gamers ( and i think we are many ) a BallaTheFeared 2500K rig is OVERKILL ( a term from the same family bottleneck is )
Sure ,give me a 2500 K at 100$ and I will get it ,but untill then ... lets use the money for more usefull things.

A single card should do just fine even with that 100$ CPU ,even if the L3 is missing.
In most cases an expensive GPU needs a better PSU as well. Why would you use in such a rig a 100$ CPU is beyond my understanding.
Anyway the higher the resolution and AA /AF quality the less CPU "bottlenecks" .

No, cpu workload stays nearly the same. It only slightly increases at higher res/higher aa. However the the gpu workload becomes greater thus resulting in higher gpu usage in areas where before the cpu was holding back the gpu. However its important to point out those higher graphical settings will cause lower fps than you were experiencing before raising the level of detail.

I'm well aware my system is complete overkill for most people, and yes Sandy Bridge (even at 5.3GHz) will bottleneck my system at times.

In fact here is PROOF that Sandy Bridge can bottleneck two 470s.
