The Phenom II is around par with a Core 2 clock for clock, but it's going to vary depending on the game/situation, so I'd say at least up to GeForce GTX 570 won't bottleneck much, if at all. So, I think you're pretty safe with a GeForce GTX 460 not really bottlenecking on it, depending on the clock speed.

I agree with this guy. My Phenom II @ 3.8GHz only shows it's weakness when set up with CPU intensive games or programs that make use of more than two cores. I've got the GTX 470 and it rarely bottlenecks at my resolution. biggrin.gif

If you overclocked that quad, you could easily handle anything on the market. biggrin.gif

Anyway the only game (that I play) that bottlenecks my video card is starcraft 2. I have seen it played on a core i3 530 @3.2ghz on a 5770 and it gets better fps and 100% usage during 4v4 fastest map possible by wolf as well as on Desert Strike. So yes Intel systems are better. (although at towards the end of those games other people usually slow the game down anyway)

That being said I am very happy with my system and will only upgrade once I find a game that is unplayable.

I go for broke, as cheap as possible.

All they need to do is remove bazels (maybe an inexpensive high res curved screen like that Alianware one that is way overpriced) and I'll be on a multi-monitor of cheap screens in a heart beat.

OK, about a dozen people have told you that the AMD Phenom II is indeed better than the Phenom I. I have a Phenom II 965 BE and a Phenom I x4 9950 BE and they DO NOT COMPARE. For instance, a standard definition DVD will transcode on the oldschool Phenom in about 45 minutes at ITS MAXIMUM STABLE SPEED (on air) of 3.2ghz. The Phenom II, clocked at IT'S maximum stable speed of 4.5ghz (again, on air) (AMD 4Ghz+ Club Post with Validation) will do the SAME DVD MOVIE transcode from standard VOB and SUB files into a 2.5gb mp4 in about 22 minutes.

If you are an Intel fanboy, I do not fault you, they fold better, they transcode better and they are better all around general-use chips. What I will fault you on, however, is that you are trolling and don't know enough about the differences between AMD chips.

I was speaking clock for clock, they are pretty dang close in terms of performance there.

However its a given that Phenom II chips overclock higher with C2s hitting around 3.8 and C3s going upward of 4.2GHz on air with good chips.

Its funny you linked the 4GHz club though, scroll down to number 86.

I found this for you Balla, looks like you need another card before you run around yelling bottleneck at the top of your lungs. biggrin.gif

Looks like when you go for 3 cards you see some bottleneck in some games at specific clocks.
SLI seems to be ok though.
Interesting review.
