Is this mobo's dual PCI slots really @ 8x8 ??

says so on the website, but triple is 16x8x8, shouldnt then dual be @ 16 x 16 ??

can someone reccomend a good motherboard? has to have the following

LGA 1155
DDR3 2133
PCI-E @ 16x16 dual mode

thanks

Dual is 16x16 since it uses the NF200 chip.

wrong. it's 8x8

nf200's 16 x 16 is a joke.

the native 8 by 8 is superior and u shouldnt worry about anything bottlenecking.

If you occupy the first slot with a sound card and then place your GPU's in the two lower slots they will operate at 16x16

weird set up bu that is the only way to get 2x 16 on this board ...

BTW, the board is spectacular

who knows, maybe you should experiment.

quadfire isnt the best at scaling, but im curious to see results.

as for normal sli/xfire at typical resolutions, it's far better.

Wait, your saying native 8x8, which my GigabyteP67UD5 has right? is better than 16x16 at 5860x1080? Im running Tri Xfire btw - 2 PCI slots though, not 3, (6990 & 6970), I guess then 8x8 is faster?

no, im saying at beyond 2xxx resolution, the 16 may be better.

how're your frame rates right now?

Asus implemented x8/x8 for a reason on that board. To quote Bastyn99:

So when you SLI with only two cards, the 16 lanes are split between the 1st and 3rd slot and the NF200 chip is not being used, so you get x8/x8 speed which only decreases performance by a few percent compared to x16/x16. But when 3-way SLI'ing, if you did not use the NF200 chip, you would get x8/x4/x4 speed which would seriously destroy the performance, so at that point, the NF200 chip will split 8 of the lanes between the the 2nd and 4th slot and give you x8/x16/x16 speeds. I dont know if this is a good choice or not. Ive seen tests that shows that using either an NF200 chip to split the lanes and give you x16/x16 speed or just going normal x8/x8 speed while SLI'ing doesnt really make a difference, but some say that while using an NF200 chip you will se microstuttering in games. Anyway thats the deal with the M4E and NF200
