So true. This happened to my work computer last week. I ran MSe, Malwarebytes and even looked for manual removal instructions of the virus and deleted registry items. It didnt work. i still got those audio advertisements playing in the back, and my IE was hijacked. I tried system restore of a week prior and it was still there. So I decided to install win 7 since our office had a recovery disc for it. Before that though I even tried running AVG, superanitspyware, and all the others I had in safemode and they kept finding the same trojans every time. They were just reinstalling htemselves from some place. Never use system restore unless you know for a fact that it is a clean point to restore from.

Most viruses will hibernate with in the restore point data,
so you will end up in the same boat,
So delete all restore points and do the Avast scan at boot,
