Is this a golden chip? (Q9550)

Thread Starter
3.7GHz on 1.136V? Pretty sure I can get 4GHz on 1.25V or lower, and might be trying later today. Is this good enough to call it a golden chip?

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1785388

Once did 4GHz at 1.208V, validation stable, but was way, way too hot with my old cooler and had to shut it down (hit 88C)
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=991233

That was several months ago. I'll be making another attempt today.

Absolutely amazing Vcore for 3.7ghz.

Before my 2600k, I had a Q9550 that had a VID of 1.15v. It did 3.6ghz with "only" 1.28v. But you are doing 3.7ghz with ONLY 1.13v.

That's lower than my old Q9550's VID

I'd say that is pretty much golden.

Pretty sweet..

Kinda hot for that oc and low volts tho...

Looks like it will be too hot before you hit the max clocks... Considering the headroom you have in voltages anyway...

Looks like you need to upgrade to a full out h2o loop
I know when I got my L737B Q6600 and couldnt get past 3.4, 1.32v without hitting 70c I was hell bent on h2o....

But yeah, thats a pretty golden voltage/oc for sure...

Whats the VID?? and Batch #

Yeah, the VID for this one is 1.2125V. I can get it prime stable at stock at ~0.98V, although it will show signs of mild instability (takes a long time to boot, some programs lag for a fraction of a second) for anything under ~1.05V.

Does this make my Q9550 E0 a golden chip if does 4.53ghz @ 1.4v?

1.28v, was that under load? My Q9400 does 3.6GHz at around 1.2v under load, Prime stable. Even though it has a Vid of 1.2875v.

My Q9650 does 4GHz at around 1.32v Load volts. And has 1.25v VID. Also does 3.9GHz at 1.28v~ load

VID's in the post above. As for cooling, I kind of screwed up when installing my H50 and just smeared the TIM all over, so there's probably lots of air pockets in it. Now I have a better idea of what I'm doing with this cooler I'm going to redo it with some diamond freeze when I have the time. That should drop me by about 5C or so at load.

As is I'm about 10C cooler than with my Thermaltake V1, so I'm not complaining.
